Gleaning

We’ve been contacting farmers around Bristol seeing if they have any surplus produce to glean, gleaning is the act of collecting leftover crops from farmers’ fields after they have been commercially harvested or on fields where it is not economically profitable to harvest. Some ancient cultures promoted gleaning as an early form of a welfare system. To read more about an organisation gleaning national click here!

We’ve managed to find a farmer with an organic apple orchard, we’ll be organising a glean day at the end of November, if you are interested email us! We cover travel to and from Bristol.

We’ve connected with a local community orchard and we’ll be borrowing their pressing equipment, we’ll then be bottling the juice and giving it out to the community at events and markets up to Christmas. The price will be based on covering the costs & a donation/re-valuing system. If you want to get involved email us! Keep an apple-of-your-eye out for updates on our Facebook page!
