The Lesvos Skipchen is a food distribution tent on the Afghan hill adjacent to the main registration camp for refugees arriving on the Island from Turkey. The tent was built by a group of 6 volunteers from the U.K and is currently serving 3 meals a day as well as providing soup and tea throughout the night. We work with local catering companies and other volunteer groups to make sure the daily demand for food is met on the camp. There are roles for people with cooking skills as well as those without; the space also takes the role of a food distribution tent as well as kitchen. We are looking for adaptable and dynamic team leaders to manage the day-to-day running of the tent. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to do challenging yet highly rewarding work. In return for your work you will be provided with accommodation, vehicle access and compensation for some of your expenses whilst on the island. We understand that it is not always easy to take time off to volunteer but we require a minimum commitment of one month for these roles. If you cannot commit that amount of time please still consider coming as a general volunteer instead!
