We have 25kg of espresso coffee beans.

The majority of the globe’s coffee is grown in Brazil & causes wide scale deforestation of the Amazon.

It is in the top 3 most heavily pesticide sprayed crops thus contributing to toxic water contamination in a drought vulnerable region.

The processing of coffee beans is very water intensive & occurs in Central America & Africa – water vulnerable regions.

The global coffee supply chain is very carbon intensive & contributes to climate change.

The majority of the emissions come from fertiliser inputs of nitrogen.

Drinking nitrate contaminated water results in cancers, diabetes & thyroid problems.

Asparagus grown in the UK 2.56kg vs Oregano & Thai Basil grown in Ethiopia 40g. Which waste is worse?

Oregano is a perennial herb native to temperate southerwestern Eurasia & the Mediterranean. It is easily grown in the UK and at home.

Ethiopian agriculture is vulnerable to drought, soil degradatin , deforestation & overgrazing. It’s land is also vulnerable to climate change.

Asparagus is perennial & native to most of Europe. It is highly nutritious & can be pickled & stored for several years.
